One of the main interest I have in this book is the idea of having a continued relationship with someone who has died. Not in a form that is "attachment" and not being able to let go. But a relationship in which you continually honor a person and their contributions in your life, through advice, courage, experiences they had; and find strength without their physical manifestation. Sometimes history and memories are what holds us together. This book touches on those issues and relationships on so many levels.
In my daily practice, I am to reflect on the Four Thoughts that transform the mind:
- The preciousness of a human birth.
- The impermanence of life
- Negative and Positive actions that have their inevitable results
- Renouncing (allowing openess) to my habits and delusions and follow the teachings to be of best benefit to others.
I think this book will deepen the understanding of the impermanence of life and my negative actions due to habitual tendencies. May it allow me to also deepen the understanding in removing the part of Ego that creates obstacles when helping others.
With love,
Sam
